The activity of disseminating knowledge and cultural enhancement of the Monumental Cemetery of the Certosa di Bologna, promoted by the Civic Museum of the Risorgimento of Bologna’s Civic Museums Sector in cooperation with Bologna Cemetery Services, is expanded with a new initiative: the VN 360° virtual tour.
Conceived by the Veronesi Namioka communication studio, the project uses digital technologies that put the user and his senses at the centre, offering an immersive online navigation experience designed specifically for museums and cultural and tourist contexts.
Thanks to the high definition and attention to detail of the path, the virtual journey inside the monumental complex becomes an immersive realism experience, allowing users to discover and access in-depth content on the important historical, artistic and architectural heritage of one of the most important monumental cemeteries in the world, recognised in 2021 as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the framework of the “Portici di Bologna” project.
In line with the adopted policy of integrating and expanding the real exhibition function of museums with the contribution of digital technologies, the virtual itinerary dedicated to the Certosa ‘open-air’ museum confirms the attention of the Bologna Civic Museums Sector towards the quality of communication devices and the wealth of potential that digitalisation offers as a means of remote access and dissemination, without claiming to be a totally equivalent replacement for the physical visit.
A new form of storytelling to expand and integrate the information offer on its cultural heritage and make the public more aware and eager to get closer.
