Two centuries have passed since the first experiments of opening to the public of the scientific collections of the University of Bologna, which then coexisted with teaching at Palazzo Poggi.
La Specola , the most evocative and spectacular place of the Alma Mater, welcomed interested citizens like today, outside the circle of teachers and students. We must imagine, in that 1819, an already modern perception of the function of the Academic Museums, certainly indebted to the favorable Napoleonic climate, when the idea of collections open to the public had spread in Europe.
We want to recover the spirit of that time, giving back in contemporary terms the curiosity, the passions, the amazement that animated those rooms two centuries ago. And that they renew themselves, every day, since then. The program of initiatives from 29 October to 1 December 2019.
