At Palazzo Pallavicini the exhibition “SURREALIST LEE MILLER” is underway, the Italian premiere of the retrospective dedicated to one of the most important photographers of the twentieth century.
The exhibition consists of 101 images that trace the entire artistic career of the photographer, through what are her most famous and iconic shots.
Launched by Condé Nast on the cover of “Vogue” in 1927, Lee Miller becomes one of the most popular models in fashion, but soon after decides to move to the other side of the lens.
Struck by the images of Man Ray, one of the most important surrealists, he manages to meet him and becomes his muse, but above all collaborator, developing with him the technique of solarization.
Friend of Picasso, Ernst, Cocteau, Miró and the whole circle of surrealists, after the Parisian period, Lee Miller opened his own photo studio.
During the Second World War he was a photojournalist in the wake of American troops and was the first female photographer to document the liberation of the Dachau and Buchenwald concentration camps, in addition to following the Allies during the discovery of Hitler’s apartments where what was probably taken was taken became his most famous photograph: Lee Miller in the Führer’s bathtub.
Friday 12 April special admission to 10 EURO at the exhibition instead of 14 EURO.
