LIVING MATTER!
Often fossils are observed and conceived only as evidence of the past unrelated to the present, yet many of them belong to our everyday life. Some prehistoric living beings, in fact, have continued to inhabit our planet, others have become extinct, others still “live” around us in the form of natural materials or works of art. With a guided tour of the Collections of the “Giovanni Capellini Museum” we will go to the discovery of those fossil remains that speak of them in the contemporary and, consequently, also of us.

BOTANICAL GARDEN AND HERBARIUM
via Irnerio 42, Bologna
THERE WAS NO TIME ON THE MUSEUM!
In the Botanical Garden we see today plants that were not there when it was built at the beginning of the 1800s, and even less could they have been in the ancient Bolognese Garden of the mid-1500s. Why? Because these are exotic species introduced in Italy in more or less recent times! We will see some of them.
In case of rain, we will stay indoors talking about fruit, dried fruit, vegetables, aromatic herbs … Do you know that tomato is a fruit? And what peanuts grow underground? And what part of the plant will a celery stalk ever be? Where do the vegetables we eat come from? Could they have been in the ancient Bolognese garden?
