A spectacular exhibition from November 9th to December 9th 2018. Opening today at 6pm.
MAMbo dedicates to Bolognese educational excellence, the open-air schools of the past the most current outdoor experiences, the exhibition Back to the Future? – curated by Mirella D’Ascenzo and Mino Petazzini – who, through documents, archival materials, objects and images, reconstructs the foundations and the evolution of a tradition of quality, acceptance and inclusion in the school environment.
The initiative is promoted by the Bologna University Institution and Education, Education and New Generation Area of the Municipality of Bologna in collaboration with the Fondazione Villa Ghigi and the University of Bologna.
The exhibition, open to the public from November 9 to December 9, 2018, is also carried out within the framework of a broader project entitled “The backstage of the museum: creating and hosting an exhibition, organized by MAMbo in collaboration with Oficina Impresa Sociale , which is the winner of the announcement Take part! Act and creative thinking conceived by the Directorate General for Contemporary Art and Architecture and Urban Peripheries (DGAAP) of the Ministry for Cultural Assets and Activities, with the aim of promoting the cultural inclusion of young people in areas characterized by economic and social marginal situations.
The exhibition itinerary aims to develop the theme of outdoor schools that arose in western history in the early twentieth century, focusing in particular on the situation on Italy. Some theoretical references to the history of education and some salient experiences are presented, including the central one in Bologna.
The outdoor schools were born for the care of children frail and frail but within them developed innovative pedagogical and educational experiences, thanks to the daily contact with the natural environment and a new relationship between indoor and outdoor.
The look at the past outlines some coordinates to question the present of the current school, showing some important experiences at various levels that, precisely in the renewed synergistic relationship between indoor and outdoor, aim to stimulate visitors to the central role that nature and the territory outside the school can exercise for a more attractive and ‘human’ education.
