From January 30th to February 28th 2019. OPENING: Wednesday, January 30th 2019 at 6.30pm.
Within the framework of Art City, Palazzo Zambeccari and Piazza de ‘Calderini will stage EosEco, a new and monumental site-specific installation by the artist Giorgio Bevignani, an urban intervention of great visual impact thanks to the imposing layout of four works , two of which are unpublished.
DATES AND TIMETABLE: From Monday to Saturday from 10.00am to 1.00pm and from 4.00pm to 8.00pm; Sunday from 10.00 to 13.00.
During the days of ArteFiera from 10.00 to 13.00 and from 16.00 to 20.00.
In the evocative Renaissance courtyard of Palazzo Zambeccari the unpublished site-specific work EosEco (Nothing exists without shadow) will be set up, which gives the title to the entire event and consists of a large spheroidal sculpture focused on the theme of light, taking up the ranks of the experimentation on materials, now become a stylistic figure of Bevignani.
In fact, using an interweaving of nylon threads and the silicone pigmented with phosphorescent colors on the range of yellow cadmium, the artist experiments an unusual inflatable sculpture, in which the texture of the covering appears full of protuberances, reliefs and similar villi. organic that capture and refract light, showing itself as a large luminescent drop. As the artist himself states in the interview given to him by the curator Silvia Grandi, “matter is a receptacle of light; affected by it reveals to our receptors all the colors of its complex plastic fan. I chose the spheroidal shape, typical of the seeds, because it is more capacious with a smaller surface, as happens with the drops of water “.
The large seed that welcomes visitors in the courtyard of Palazzo Zambeccari, however, now appears free from the land where it was germinated; it is suspended in search of that sunlight which will make it grow and as a globe of organic material transmits to visitors its intrinsic “noise”. The work in silicone and nylon, inflated by compressed air, is suspended with a single hook which, by rotating, creates a movement and, consequently, the air inside generates micro sounds amplified and diffused through a three-dimensional system that mixes the sound frequencies emitted by the friction of the different materials during the construction phases of the sculpture.
“If the light emits a sound, we would not be equipped with sensors to capture it” – Giorgio Bevignani.
EosEco presenting itself as a luminescent sphere, which interacts with the public and follows it as it passes, succeeds in giving life to that otherwise “impossible-light” sound-binomial.
Piazza de ‘Calderini will also serve as a container for the monumental exhibition of two well-known works by Giorgio Bevignani and belonging to a trilogy dedicated to Creation: I’m ready to live – winner of the Spotlight Award 2015 of the Royal British Society of Sculptor – dedicated to men , the desert and the sea, then the idea of migration and rebirth in other places, and Soul of the dawn (2016) dedicated to women and feminicide, the sky and the stars, incorporating the indefinite spaces of the nebulae and ranges colors of the roses that evoke the lights and colors of dawn. The two large nets in synthetic fiber yarn woven by the artist, going down parallel from above, will stand almost like two totemic figures, two emblems of making and feeling that, capturing the look of passers-by, will carry them symbolically in an alienating and almost mythical dimension, to prepare them for the ethereal and immaterial atmospheres of the light that will welcome them inside Palazzo Zambeccari.
It should also be mentioned that the historic Galleria Stefano Forni, present at ArteFiera 2019 with an ambitious project based on the theme of light, will present the artist himself with a selection of unpublished works created following the common thread, in the context of light.
