We return to dance in the square on New Year’s Eve, but also around the city in the week that will precede it.
The new format of the Bologna New Year puts dance at the center of its programming, right from the name, which becomes Dancin ‘Bo. The dj – Bolognese are back – on the Crescentone for the night of the 31st, a participated Vecchione begins with the citizens, while from December 28th to January 1st the city will be invaded by 400 dancers who will perform in performances and shows in the streets and squares ; for a total cost between 200 and 240 thousand euros.
New Year’s Eve. In Piazza Maggiore on the 31st the music lights up at 10 pm and goes off at 1.30. To select a group of DJs from Bologna gathered under the name Collective Musicalist Petroniano, who will shuttle between the Crescentone and the premises of the city, with the task of agreeing the varied public of the square. “I asked for the filuzzi as a midnight soundtrack”, anticipates the Culture Councilor Matteo Lepore. For the rest, the music selection will be varied, from the ’80s to the’ 90s, from rock ‘n’ roll to smooth, with the idea of a light and fun set. More details will be decided later, it is still a concept halfway between last year’s playlist and the old Dallalto format: the DJs return to the streets but will be Bolognese, not international guests or big-testimonials. After the party in the square, enhanced night buses will lead to the locals.
The Vecchione. At midnight on the 31st, the traditional Bonfire of the Vecchione on the Crescentone. But this year changes significantly: it will be designed in a three-day workshop coordinated by Cantieri Meticci and Mambo, and built with wooden objects such as doors, wardrobes, drawers, which no longer serve and which will be the citizens themselves to bring between the 2 and December 16 to the points collected at Cavaticcio, the Train of the Boat and in Piazza dei Colori. The workshops will be used to design the outline project, as well as being open to children for the creation of thoughts, drawings and paper objects to be included in the work, which will then be completed by Cantieri Meticci’s scenographers.
The dancing week. As early as December 28, the city will host 25 companies, schools, dance associations in 16 places in the center, for impromptu performances and shows open to public and passers-by. From classical to waltz, from hip hop to folk, every “danceable” genre will be covered, with dj-sets set up for the occasion to support dancing performances. To host these moments of widespread dance will be Piazza Maggiore, the arcades, the Towers, the Neptune, piazza de ‘Celestini; but also Tpo, Arci Benassi, Mercato Sonato or Montanari center. A tribute to Lucio Dalla will be dedicated with original choreographies on his songs, while on 1 January the grand finale will be on Crescentone. From 12.30 to 2.30 pm the 400 guest dancers of Dancin ‘Bo will perform in a great collective performance to greet the new year.
