The Museo Morandi of the Settore Musei Civici Bologna is pleased to present the exhibition Morandi’s Objects. The photographs of Joel Meyerowitz, curated by Giusi Vecchi.
Held from 30 January to 25 February 2024 in rooms 23 and 24 of the Collezioni Comunali d’Arte at Palazzo d’Accursio, the exhibition is one of the five special projects of the twelfth edition of ART CITY Bologna, the institutional programme of exhibitions, events and special initiatives promoted by the Municipality of Bologna in collaboration with BolognaFiere on the occasion of Arte Fiera, which explore and reinterpret the work of Giorgio Morandi on the 60th anniversary of his death, through different contemporary languages.
Through more than 700 shots, using only natural light, Meyerowitz has carried out a profound taxonomic reconnaissance of all the objects preserved in the small room where Morandi lived and worked: including vases, bowls, bottles, coloured pigments, jugs, dried flowers, shells, funnels, watering cans, pigments and other dusty and aged objects on the same paper that the artist left on the wall, now fragile and yellowed by age.
The exhibition opens to the public on Tuesday 30 January 2024 at 2 p.m.
