MAMbo – Museo d’Arte Moderna di Bologna inaugurates the exhibition programme of the Project Room for the year 2024 with the exhibition Lynda Benglis and Properzia de’ Rossi: Sculpitrici di capriccioso e destrissimo ingegno, curated by Lorenzo Balbi, on view from 26 January to 26 May 2024.
The exhibition presents from the Bolognese artist’s artistic production the noble coat of arms of the Grassi family, in silver filigree with carved plum or apricot pits, specially restored for this exhibition occasion, and a 3D reproduction of the marble tile representing the biblical episode of Joseph and Putifares’ wife.
From the artistic production of Lynda Benglis, the exhibition presents seven marble sculptures, realised from 2015 to 2021, from Thomas Brambilla Gallery in Bergamo and private collections located in the metropolitan area of Bologna.
The exhibition, born from the collaboration between Settore Musei Civici Bologna, Settore Biblioteche e welfare culturale del Comune di Bologna and the Archdiocese of Bologna, is a virtuous example of a cultural strategy that aims to create shared projects to create new and fascinating diachronic narratives on the city’s cultural history.
