“Etruscans. Journey through the lands of the Rasna” is a fascinating journey between archeology and surprising landscapes in the lands of the Etruscans, in an exhibition that focuses on excavation and research news and on the history of one of the most important peoples of ancient Italy.
The metaphor of the journey will give form and structure to the exhibition, divided into two large sections.
The first offers a moment of preparation for the journey, making the visitor aware of the main features of the culture and history of the Etruscan people. Thus prepared, the visitor will be able to face the second section, where the actual journey takes place in the lands of the Rasna, as the Etruscans called themselves.
An itinerary through those territories and centers of Lazio, Umbria and Tuscany that were already the object of attention, wonder and description by past travelers, such as the English diplomat George Dennis, who in the 19th century with his The Cities and Cemeteries of Etruria (1848) accounted for five years of journeys that touched the archaeological sites then known, in landscapes profoundly different from what they are today.
The journey continues in the Etruscan territories of the Po Valley and Campania, perhaps less known to the general public but important theaters of new archaeological discoveries.
Finally, the exhibition naturally communicates with the rich Etruscan section of the museum, which testifies to the leading role of Etruscan Bologna.
Etruscans. Journey into the lands of the Rasna is an exhibition promoted and designed by Istituzione Bologna Musei – Museo Civico Archeologico, in collaboration with the Chair of Etruscology and Italic Antiquities of the University of Bologna, and created by Electa.
