There is time until Sunday 25 November 2018.
On the occasion of the candidacy of the porticos of Bologna to become Unesco heritage, the sculptor Ivan Dimitrov pays homage to Bologna presenting in the “E. Possati “of the historic complex of the Baraccano an anthological exhibition that includes the complete series of its terracotta bas-reliefs dedicated to the city.
The exhibition presents about 60 works realized from the 90s up to today, also coming from private collections, and represents a unique opportunity to see them all brought together.
In his bas-reliefs Dimitrov represents a Bologna to discover, intimate and hidden, with the aim of transmitting the atmosphere and the charm that has enchanted him seeing it for the first time: it is a particular beauty, made of apparent simplicity but rich in life, of culture and poetry.
Alongside the deep and sunny perspectives, that the three-dimensional technique of the painted bas-relief makes particularly suggestive and realistic, the artist proposes unusual glimpses, silent corners, details without splendor or sumptuousness but skilfully captured in a singular frame or in the moment in which a light transforms them into poetry.
Ivan Dimitrov, an artist from Bulgaria, trained artistically in Italy attending different cities, studying and admiring the places and works of the great artists who made history. In love with Bologna, so much so that she dedicated an important part of her artistic career to her, she chose her as a place of work and the city became her “adopted” city where she made important cycles of exhibitions.
The exhibition “Bologna-A city in the heart”, has the patronage of the Emilia Romagna Region, the Municipality of Bologna-District Santo Stefano and the Association for the Arts “F. France”.
