The Museo internazionale e biblioteca della musica di Bologna is pleased to host from 9 June to 10 September 2023 It’s (NOT) Only Rock’n’Roll. The Photos of Mark Allan, the first exhibition to present in Italy the work of Mark Allan, the doyen of music photography and official photographer of the Barbican Centre in London, one of the most important international spaces for music, dance and theatre, for which he has portrayed all the great protagonists of international classical and symphonic music over a 30-year career.
With the exhibition It’s (NOT) Only Rock’n’Roll. The photographs of Mark Allan also marks the start of the new collaboration between the Bologna Civic Museums Sector and the Istituzione Concertistica Orchestrale Magna Grecia of Taranto, signed by a multi-year agreement for the promotion of cultural activities, the conception and realisation of special projects and common itineraries, as well as for the coordinated planning of exhibitions, conventions, concerts and various events of a musical and artistic, scientific and didactic nature in general.
The initiative also marks the operational start of the actions of the memorandum of understanding signed between the Municipalities of Bologna and Taranto for the development of shared projects also in the cultural sphere.
The exhibition It’s (NOT) Only Rock’n’Roll. The Photos of Mark Allan is accompanied by a catalogue published by the Municipality of Bologna, which contains the photographs exhibited in Bologna and Taranto and an interview with Mark Allan by Pierfrancesco Pacoda.
The exhibition project is realised with the main sponsorship of Gruppo Hera, the support of Istituzione Concertistica Orchestrale Magna Grecia and in collaboration with OTTO Gallery and MAP Festival – Musica Architettura Parallelismi.
It is also part of Bologna Estate 2023, the programme of activities promoted by the Municipality of Bologna and the Metropolitan City of Bologna – Bologna-Modena Tourist Territory.
