After restoration work, four female works of art arrive at Palazzo D’Accursio, on temporary loan from the Pinacoteca Nazionale.
The project is made possible by an agreement signed by the Civic Museums Sector of Bologna with the Pinacoteca Nazionale di Bologna that envisages the loan of four paintings during the years 2023 and 2024. The choice of the works is the expression of a shared project between two of the city’s most important cultural institutions, which in recent years have repeatedly and fruitfully collaborated on joint initiatives, demonstrating how strategic a broader system approach on the territory can be to promote the valorisation of museum heritages.
In detail, the list of works is as follows:
1) Elisabetta Sirani, Sibilla, 1660, oil on canvas, 110 x 86 cm, inv. no. 6940, Pinacoteca Nazionale di Bologna
2) Elisabetta Sirani, Sibilla, 1660, oil on canvas, 110 x 86 cm, inv. no. 6941, Pinacoteca Nazionale, Bologna
3) Enrico Romolo, Un’eroina Della sfortunata Carini in Sicilia, 1860, oil on canvas, 112.5 x 98 cm, inv. 1065, Pinacoteca Nazionale, Bologna
4) Lavinia Fontana, Portrait of a Gentlewoman with Child, 1592-1595, oil on canvas, 117 x 99 cm, inv. 780, Pinacoteca Nazionale di Bologna.
The first two works on display are the ‘Sibyls’ by Elisabetta Sirani, on view from 6 March to 26 September 2023.
Following this, from October 2023 to April 2024, it will be the turn of Enrico Romolo’s painting and finally, from April to September 2024, Lavinia Fontana’s painting.
Compatible with institutional activities, the works will be open to the public from Monday to Friday from 10 am to 1 pm.
