Rare and unique works from German museums …
For several years now the Civic Museums of Ancient Art have proposed the Guests initiative, during which works of art are exposed to the public temporarily, which may arouse interest in the singularity of their history or what they represent, but also for their rarity, or for the search for their proper attribution or for a particular link with the artistic heritage or the art history of the city and its territory.
Often these loans are real exchanges, activated during the exhibition of our works at other Italian and foreign museums.
In fact, the importance of the work rendered requires a temporary replacement, thus allowing our museums to receive and exhibit for a limited period of time the distinguished “guests”, put in dialogue with the heritage preserved in our museums.
This time it is the case of objects that come from German museums: a precious bust reliquary of the head of St. Paul from the Museum of Munster Cathedral and a Renaissance wooden sculpture depicting Christ the Savior from the Maximilianmuseum of Ausburg.
