From 1 to 17 February, on the occasion of ART CITY Bologna, Galleria Cavour celebrates its first 60 years with a major exhibition entitled “La città passante. Spaces and stories of Galleria Cavour “, dedicated to the historic building complex that today houses a pole of luxury shopping among the most important in the world.
In addition to the projects, will be exhibited historical images that narrate the succession of the various eras, from the post-war period to the triumph of Made in Italy all over the world, passing through the economic boom and the years of lead.
The story of Galleria Cavour, born in the late forties, traces the most important events of the city, back from the Second World War.
An exemplary case is represented by the Palazzo dell’Archiginnasio, devastated by a war device on 29 January 1944.
Starting from the reconstruction of the 50s, Galleria Cavour is perceived as a singular urban laboratory, to be observed today in various ways: the design approach, the harmonious differences, the urban and social dynamics, the history of local custom and the inexhaustible relationship between ancient and modern.
The exhibition, set up along the entire promenade of the Gallery, enjoys the patronage of the Municipality and the Order of Architects of Bologna. Contribution of numerous archival collections (Genus Bononiae-San Giorgio in Poggiale Library, ER Region Historical Archives, Rome State Archives, Bologna Chamber of Commerce, Architects Order Bologna-Historical Archive, Paolo Ferrari Archive Photo and Walter Breveglieri Historical Photographic Archive) .
