Friday 29 November 2019 at 6.00 pm an initiative on the occasion of the Tree Festival.
At the Lercaro Collection there are some important fossils from the Verona area dating back to the Eocene period (about 49-52 million years ago).
In addition to suggestive fish specimens, the nucleus is composed of three magnificent large palm trees and two aquatic plants whose fossilization process began during the flowering period.
These “works” of nature are evidence of the climate and landscape that existed millions of years ago in the area of the Lessini mountains, comparable to that of coral reefs, and their study is fundamental to understanding how every life present on the planet today is actually closely related to those of the past.
The visit will be conducted in collaboration with Professor Donatella Serafini Fracassini (former Professor of Botany at the University of Bologna).
