On Friday 19 April at 5.30 p.m., the inauguration of the exhibition ‘Knowledge and Freedom. Islamic Art at the Museo Civico Medievale in Bologna‘.
This exhibition, curated by Anna Contadini, presents a selection of precious Islamic objects from various regions, from Iraq to Spain, dating from the 13th to the 18th century. Through this exhibition, an attempt is made to dispel prejudices and stereotypes, highlighting the contribution of Islamic cultures to European art and thought.
The exhibition focuses on the transmission of scientific knowledge, production techniques and ornaments, with a special focus on parade weapons, which, besides their political significance, are objects of aesthetic wonder. It will also be accompanied by lectures, guided tours and a catalogue.
