Roger Deakins is a master of cinematography for the cinema with two Oscars in his portfolio and 15 nominations. He has given light and colour to dozens of Hollywood masterpieces, becoming an indispensable collaborator for authors such as the Coen brothers, Sam Mendes and Denis Villeneuve.
From 17 November 2022 to 15 January 2023, in the Underpass of Piazza Re Enzo, a monographic exhibition to discover his art photography: Byways. The photographs of Roger Deakins, promoted by the Cineteca di Bologna in collaboration with the Fondazione MAST and the Damiani publishing house.
The author himself will be in town to inaugurate the exhibition and to present the first film screenings that will then run until January between the Cineteca di Bologna’s Cinema Lumière and the MAST.Auditorium.
The exhibition, curated by James Ellis Deakins, originates from the first and homonymous monograph by Deakins published by Damiani in 2021 and presents more than 50 black and white photographs from the book, as well as a series of previously unpublished shots.
Opening hours: Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 2pm to 8pm; Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from 10am to 8pm. Closed Tuesday.
