“Summer at the museum. The summer camps of the Bologna Museums Institution ”
The 2019 edition, aimed at children from 5 to 11 years old, is based in the green setting of Villa delle Rose. From June 10th to September 13th, the thirteen weeks are dedicated to the theme of great explorations: nature, art, land and space travel, civilization and distant cultures.
Each week includes trips for activities in museums and city sites of historical and cultural interest.
The themes of the week from 26 to 30 August are:
for children from 5 to 11 years: “The navel of the world”
A week dedicated to exploring the other and interculturality, to understand that we are the same and different at the same time . The works of great artists and writers from all over the world will allow us to know and discover “distant” cultures only in appearance. Dialogue and confrontation with diversity in a relationship of exchange and reciprocity: these are the themes that we will examine in depth from day to day also through a view of the “Ex Africa” exhibition, hosted at the Civic Archaeological Museum
for children from 11 to 16 years old : “As true artists”
A week to explore the creative process of the artist Julian Charrière and create a large collective installation visible to the public, set up in the spaces of MAMbo . The history of science, the development of media culture, the relationship between nature and civilization and the contemporary ecological crisis will be the themes that we will investigate and that will allow us to make visible the contemporary graphic imagery proposed by the artist and reworked by the boys.

The MAMbo Project Room continues its exhibition activity with “Think yourself free. Bologna Rock 1979”, an exhibition dedicated to the musical event that gathered more than six thousand people at the Palasport in Bologna April 2, 1979.
“Bologna Rock” can be considered the symbol of a season that is not exclusively musical but also social, cultural, political, which has left its mark on the history of the city and of all of Italy, on which the exhibition focus, edited by Oderso Rubini and Anna Persiani, he wants to build a thorough investigation.
Medieval Museum – via Manzoni 4 “Jean François Migno . The power of color”, until 8 September 2019 The Medieval Civic Museum opens to dialogue with contemporary painting by presenting the first solo exhibition in Italy of the French artist Jean François Migno , by Graziano Campanini and Riccardo Betti. The main nucleus of the exhibition is enclosed in the Lapidary room and then expanded inside some rooms of the exhibition path, where Migno’s canvases dot the space as devices that capture the viewer’s gaze in a game of quivering chromatic vibrations.
Archaeological Museum – via dell’Archiginnasio 2 “Ex Africa. Stories and identity of a universal art” , until September 8th 2019 Faces and hieratic bodies that we Westerners immediately remember the sculptures of Modigliani and Brancusi , the paintings of Nolde and Picasso. But also faces admirably turned into bronze, of fidian perfection like only the cherubs and the Christ in Raphael’s bands. Objects of power and worship that refer to metaphysics, ancient rituals, human and supernatural forces. But also miniature figures to weigh the gold dust, chiseled like watches of the German seventeenth century. And again, salons in ivory, olives and spoons made in Africa in ancient times on a European commission, for what were once called applied arts.
