ART CITY Bologna is back from 7 to 9 May 2021, with a ninth edition with a renewed formula, an institutional program of exhibitions and special initiatives promoted by the Municipality of Bologna, which this year takes place as part of Bologna Estate, with the artistic direction by Lorenzo Balbi and the coordination of the Bologna Museums Institution.
The event aims to represent an opportunity for rebirth for the Bolognese cultural life that has gone through and is still experiencing a period of difficulty and extremely demanding challenges.
It is no coincidence that ART CITY 2021 takes place as part of Bologna Estate, opening the program of initiatives as a auspicious spark to restart sociality and enjoyment in the presence of artistic creativity, without prejudice to compliance with the security conditions dictated by the state of the Covid-19 emergency.
Places
The search for unexpected paths and the possibility of accessing particular, unusual places and normally outside the canonical circuits of cultural enjoyment will characterize the 2021 edition which will be built as a great visit to the “city that does not exist”: an unusual Bologna, seen through the transforming lens of contemporary languages.
Public and private spaces that are also very different, from the Historic Theater of Villa Aldrovandi-Mazzacorati to the Ex GAM, from the Certosa Cemetery to the Serre dei Giardini Margherita, up to the suggestive anti-aircraft shelter of Villa Revedin – Archiepiscopal Seminary, as well as museums, galleries and spaces non-profit exhibitions, will be related in a new way thanks to the planning entrusted to the curators of each intervention.
Real art districts will be realized in some areas, for example in the Fiera area, with initiatives at the Ex GAM, at the Pavilion de l’Esprit Nouveau and around the Fair itself, or in San Lazzaro di Savena with the Massimo Foundation and Sonia Cirulli, KAPPA-NöUN and 10 Lines.
As usual, the schedule will also include the exhibitions promoted by the Modern and Contemporary Art Galleries – Confcommercio Ascom Bologna and the other initiatives set up in the most diverse types of public, private and independent spaces, which every year punctuate the city with contemporary languages. .
Many of the exhibition proposals that animate the art days will continue in the following weeks and months, accompanying the Bologna Summer program.
