In 2024 Arte Fiera will be 50 years old! It is a milestone that no other Italian art fair had yet crossed and that Arte Fiera wants to celebrate not only by looking back, but also by thinking ahead.
On the one hand, the fair will celebrate its origins, revisiting in the Public Program protagonists and events linked to its very first editions and, more generally, to the cultural climate of Bologna in the 1970s, a period when the Emilian city was at the forefront of both visual art and architecture and design. On the other hand, in addition to presenting the best of modern and current Italian art, Arte Fiera will try to point in new directions, opening up again to foreign galleries, giving space to the latest performance novelties, and asking the artists of the present to create new works.
The Main Section of Arte Fiera, divided as always between historical art and contemporary art, will be flanked by three curated and by-invitation-only sections: Photography and Moving Images, Pittura XXI and Multipli, which will feature works in editions ranging from artist’s books to design.
Alongside the curated sections, Percorso returns. Not a section proper but, as the title indicates, an itinerary connecting a number of stands in the Main section according to a thematic criterion. The theme of Percorso will be a transversal and universal language, uniting artists of different generations and languages: drawing.
