Wednesday, October 3 at 18:00 inaugurates the exhibition at the Museo Raccolta Lercaro.
“From Picasso to Fontana, half a century of artist’s looks” in the works of Sandro Cherchi’s collection
The exhibition, until 7 April 2019, presents to the public, for the first time, the rich body of works entered in the collection of the Lercaro Collection thanks to the donation arranged in 1997 by the artist Sandro Cherchi (Genoa 1911-1998) and, subsequently, by his wife Anna.
In addition to drawings, engravings, ceramics and glasses made by the artist himself, the core includes works from his private collection: two splendid drawings on paper by Marino Marini, a waxed graffiti by Felice Casorati, a fragile as precious glazed ceramic by Lucio Fontana, followed by a large sheet of still “kneaded” clay paper on which studies and sketches for different sculptures are traced.
Then again, a charcoal by Ennio Morlotti, different drawings by Mino Maccari, on the border between cartoonist humor and satire, a very delicate female portrait of Giuseppe Santomaso, a still life by Pietro Marussig.
Finally, two lithographs by Pablo Picasso, one by Jean Dubuffet, one by Virgilio Guidi and a tempera by Piero Ruggeri.
The exhibition is curated by Andrea Dall’Asta SJ.
Free admission.
