The award ceremony for the Tortellino d'Oro in Bologna is awarded each year by the Confraternity of the Golden Dumpling, which, endorsed by a jury of gastronomic experts, recognizes each year the best restaurateurs and the best artisans of the Bolognese delight par excellence: the tortellino.
Two categories are awarded: the one for the tortellini served at the restaurant and the one for the homemade pasta to be cooked at home, the tortellini of the sfogline.
The best tortellino served - for the 2019 edition - is that of the Al Pappagallo Restaurant ... “for the priceless Petronian culinary heritage enclosed in a kitchen of ancient traditions and new emotions, served at the tables of an elegant and refined restaurant that at dawn of his one hundred years of life he continues to excite Bolognese, Italians and foreigners. "
The restaurant in Piazza della Mercanzia, won the prestigious award with its pinky tortellino in double capon broth: convincing forty judges who for over two months, among lunches and dinners in disguise, they tasted and decreed, recognizing in this way the work of the restaurant Al Pappagallo and his very personal research in the tradition of the Bolognese flavor.
The award ceremony was held in the presence of the President of the Emilia-Romagna Region, Stefano Bonaccini.
For the category of the best homemade tortellini to be cooked at home, the first prize was won by the Baita della Vecchia Malga.
