In its 16th edition, the Certosa’s summer cultural programme has become one of the main initiatives for the enhancement of the monument, recognised by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in 2021. The 2024 calendar includes 79 events combining art, history, theatre, music and dance, with over 50 evening events and other activities during the day. New this year are two autumn exhibitions that will continue the charms of the Charterhouse beyond its borders.
The Museo civico del Risorgimento collaborates with various cultural associations and tour guides to offer a wide range of events in the monumental complex. This event is part of Bologna Estate 2024, promoted by the Municipality and the Metropolitan City of Bologna, and coincides with the Week of Discovery of European Cemeteries. The regional law of 2022 recognises the importance of monumental and historical cemeteries, and for the first time, a coordinated programme will be promoted among the four monumental cemeteries in the territory.
