Starting from October 31st the University Museum System, in collaboration with the Historical Archives, organizes a series of events, seminars, screenings, shows, nights at the museum, workshops and guided tours to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the first publication of the Mary Shelley.
Through scientific instruments, portraits and ancient volumes we can trace the experiments conducted by Luigi Galvani and Giovanni Aldini in the rooms of Palazzo Poggi at the end of the eighteenth century, discovering how the character of Doctor Frankenstein was born.
FRANK IS BACK “DAL VIVO”
An evening at the Museum of Palazzo Poggi in the company of the actors who have interpreted the docu-fiction “Frankenstein Senior”, on the scientific roots of the novel by Mary Shelley.

An electrifying evening at the Museo di Palazzo Poggi, to discover the collections of physics and scientific experiments that inspired the creation of Frankenstein.

FRANK IS BACK “FOR KIDS”
The little visitors will go into the pages of the famous novel “Frankenstein”, to discover the creature of the novel by Mary Shelley who came alive thanks to the prodigious electrical experiments. After a visit to the eighteenth-century laboratory of electrical physics, the participants will be able to test their skills as scientists with electrifying experiments … And for all there will be a final surprise! The Frankenstein Senior research project. The scientific foundations of a myth in the collections of Palazzo Poggi, curated by Eugenio Bertozzi, is aimed at enhancing and promoting the university museum heritage.
The project is part of the initiatives of the European Year of Heritage 2018, supported by the Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities, and is part of the Frankenreads international network.
