Taking place from 27 May to 2 November 2023 is the Certosa Summer Calendar, the series of cultural events curated by the Civic Museum of the Risorgimento of Bologna’s Civic Museums Sector, with the contribution of Bologna Cemetery Services, to enhance and promote knowledge of the historical, artistic and architectural heritage enclosed in the Monumental Cemetery, whose cultural relevance has been sanctioned at the highest level by UNESCO with its inscription in 2021 in the list of World Heritage Sites within the framework of the “Portici di Bologna” project.
Now in its fifteenth edition, the summer cultural programme has established itself as one of the most important initiatives undertaken as part of an articulated project for the recovery and enhancement of the monumental site, supported by the Municipality of Bologna since 1999, which has garnered growing interest and appreciation from the public.
As many as 82 appointments are proposed for the 2023 programme, interweaving art, history, theatre, music and dance to immerse oneself in the city of memory and discover its beauties and secrets, including guided tours, themed walks, animated lessons, workshops for adults and children, concerts and shows, over 50 of which will be open in the evening. There will also be activities at other times of the day – in the morning, in the afternoon, at sunset – able to offer moments of amazement, enchantment and meditation thanks to the spectacular nature of the precious monumental setting and the uniqueness of the spectacular architectural scores that follow one another among the halls, porticoes, cloisters and loggias enclosed within it.
