The magical Christmas atmosphere returns to Bologna with the long-awaited markets from mid-November until around Epiphany.
The City will be full of colours, lights, decorations, nativity scenes and typical flavours.
The first appointment is with the Santa Lucia Christmas Markets, from November 10th to December 26, which take place under the Portico dei Servi between Strada Maggiore and via Guerrazzi.
The Santa Lucia Markets are a great historical point of reference during the Christmas period as they are full of decorations for the tree and the nativity scene.
Furthermore, in the square in front of the Church of Santa Lucia – where the market was initially held – an enchanted forest will be set up with Santa’s house in which to post the letters, while inside the Church there will be a wonderful nativity scene.
Another event not to be forgotten and not to be missed is the French Christmas Market – from November 25 to December 24 – in Piazza Minghetti.
The market will be open from 10am until 8pm and will be inspired by the Christmas markets held in Northern Italy and those in Alsace.
You will be able to taste delicious butter biscuits, pain au chocolat, baguettes and many other French products, such as cheeses or pates, with which you can fully immerse yourself in the Christmas atmosphere.
Subsequently we remember the Christmas Fair in Via Altabella, a side street of Via Indipendenza that runs alongside the Cathedral of San Pietro.
From November 18th to January 8, via Altabella will be another great point of reference for Christmas shopping, sweets and many gift ideas.
Another Christmas market is Christmas in Porta Galliera, from November 24 to January 10, with a warm thematic atmosphere for those arriving from the train or bus station.
For those looking for Christmas trees of a certain type, the Piazza Trento and Trieste Market, from 6 to 24 December, is unmissable.
Piazza Lucio Dalla, however, will host the winter edition of the DiMondi Festival with markets, workshops and games for children, music, food and much more (dates yet to be confirmed).
Finally, we remind you that FICO will become the largest Christmas Village in the city from November 4 to January 7, with many attractions such as the Polar Express, virtual sleigh ride, zoo, sweets and ice skating rink.
Last, but not least, the Epiphany Fair, so dear to adults and children, which will be held from 2 to 8 January 2024, between via Indipendenza, Rizzoli and Ugo Bassi.
Further updates will follow on dates to be made official or modified.
